Hybrid CERT Core Course
September 9, 2020 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a positive and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations where citizens can manage utilities and put out small fires; provide basic medical aid; search for and rescue victims safely; and organize themselves and spontaneous volunteers to be effective. Over the course of the CERT program you’ll learn the most up to date information through training in basic disaster preparedness, use of a fire extinguisher, disaster medical care, first aid training, search and rescue techniques, communicating through FRS radios, and neighborhood team building. Participants of the program will learn lifesaving skills, rescuer safety, and doing the greatest good for the greatest number. The training is offered for free to those who live or work in Belmont, Foster City, and San Mateo and who are 16 years old and older.
The CERT Hybrid Course is a series of ONLINE classes taken at your convenience along with seven (7) evening meetings (“office hours”) via Zoom and a “Skills Day” which is a full-day of hands-on training. You need to complete all 7 evening office hours via Zoom, the “Skills Day”, and the Online CERT Course to receive your certification.
Wednesday CERT Zoom Office Hours: September 9, September 16, September 23, September 30, October 7, October 14, October 21
Hands-On Skills Day: TBD
